Dr Chengcan Yao is a Reader in Immunopharmacology at the University of Edinburgh Centre for Inflammation Research. He obtained his PhD from the Department of Pharmacology, Kyoto University. Dr Yao studies eicosanoid pharmacology focusing on the interplay between bioactive lipid mediators like prostaglandins and the immune system and their roles in control of barrier tissue homeostasis and inflammatory diseases. He is actively involved in teaching and research supervision and serves on the NC-IUPHAR Prostaglandin nomenclature subcommittee.
